The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a digital identity card for products, made mandatory by the EU through the ESPR regulation (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation) and other EU legislation (such as for batteries or construction products).
From 2026, more and more product categories will need a DPP: think of textiles, furniture, batteries, steel, aluminium and more. Eventually, all products in the EU, with the exception of food and health products, will fall under the ESPR and thus need a DPP.
